How long does it take to make a piece?

A: It depends on the size and complexity of the piece. You can count on standards pieces being available in 2 to 3 weeks and a custom piece in about 4 weeks. No more waiting and waiting for months and months to enjoy your furniture.

How much does it cost to make a piece?

A: Standard pieces have set prices. We quote on custom pieces based on what you want, including any specifications and budget you have in mind. We offer free consultations and local delivery.

What does boyandgirlco mean by 'sustainable'?

A: Sustainable means long-lasting, but for boyandgirlco it also means sustaining our environment … the world we live in. That’s why we make new from old. Beautiful pieces from discarded material. Something from nothing. Transform old into gold.

While we mostly use discarded wooden pallets to create pieces, we also upcycle furniture and other items destined to be forgotten or tossed in landfill, including glass bottles, suitcases, wardrobes and couches. Its base is made out of discarded stereo speakers (come see it).

Boyandgirlco always aim to inject new life and maximise potential.

How do you work with pallets?

A. We pull them all apart with our bare hands, getting lots of splinters and blisters along the way. It’s time consuming and hard, but rewarding work. We de-nail the pallets and minimise waste by using all pieces from the pallets—large, small, regular, irregular.

We use most of the nails from the original pallet too. So, in effect, we don’t buy a lot new.

How do I maintain my boyandgirlco furniture?

A. Maintaining your boyandgirlco furniture is easy.

For indoor pieces, just wax about twice a year with furniture wax you can buy from any hardware store. It should only take a few minutes.

For outdoor pieces, use a water-based sealer about once a year to keep your piece looking great.
