Current Opportunities

Builder (Casual with a look to part time).
Primary Purpose: The Builder builds...duh.  But, you will be required to solve complex problems and work independently to the standards set out by the boyandgirlco family.  Don't worry, we'll let you know what standards we mean. 

Level of Supervision:   For the first few months, we'll work together to get you up to speed. But eventually you'll have the skills and experience to build and finish pieces all on your own. 

Problem solving and judgement:  The builder, based on experience develop through builds, must be able to make decisions on complex and routine matters relating to each build.  Mistakes are totally fine, almost encouraged. But mistakes made repeatedly that we don't learn from is a big no no at boyandgirlco. 

Minimum training level, qualifications and experience: The Builder will be required to maintain a high level of carpentry and building skills needed to operate tools and build techniques.  This means you will have prior building experience in wood furniture or a related field.  You will have sound knowledge of tools and safe use. 

Desired Skill Sets: 
•    Ability to work accurately and effectively with a minimum of supervision if needed.
•    Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external clients.
•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•    Demonstrated initiative, sound judgement and a ‘can do’ approach.

Key Deliverables
•    Operate hand and power tools in safely manner
•    Build and construct standard and custom pieces to specifications.
•    Communicate with stakeholders in a professional and friendly manner.
•    Maintain the cleanliness of the workshop area and fixings room at the end of each day.

Workshop Assistant 'Jack of all trades' (casual position)

This casual position, a ‘Jack of all trades’, is a support-based role and will be responsible for providing assistance to team members within the workshop (the Temple).   If ever something needs doing, we'll call you on you do it, whatever it may be so be prepared for anything!

Primarily, this role will be responsible for the deconstruction and preparation of pallet material and assisting team members with building all the crazy things we take on at boyandgirlco.

This job is perfect for you if:

  • You have experience in building furniture, carpentry or cabinet making
  • You are physically able (deconstructing pallets, building and lifting)
  • You like working on new things and are able to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • You have a positive attitude and always see opportunity where others might see problems
  • You’re able to learn quickly and apply yourself to developing your skills without having to be asked
  • You like to see an outcome from the work you do and are able to deliver on the goals you set out to achieve.

Primary purpose:

  • Pallet Deconstruction
  • Building furniture, installations and other things we might take on.

The hours for this role will vary from between 6-18 hours a week.
